LeBron out Saturday vs. Portland TrailBlazers due to groin strain
This isn’t such a surprise. If you have followed the Heat during the regular season at all the past couple of years you know they tend to error on the cautious side when their stars are hurt – they are not playing for December, they are playing for May and June.
They let their guys get healthy.
With that it is no surprise that LeBron James is out Saturday night for the Heat’s showdown with the Portland Trail Blazers due a strained groin. Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel reports it is official.
His injury happened in the second quarter of the Heat’s loss to the Kings Friday night.
After the game LeBron admitted it was very painful and he was seen limping both in the locker room and getting off the plane.
Groin strains can linger if they are not allowed to fully heal, and the Heat don’t want to play the next month with a slowed and hobbling LeBron.
Which is to say there is no timetable for LeBron to return to the lineup. This weeks games for the Heat are at the Nuggets Monday, then home to host the Warriors on Thursday followed by a trip to Orlando Saturday.
