Ray Allen finds his shot, hits his stride
Heat guard has breakthrough against Magic after recent struggles. For a minute, it looked like the Ray Allen of old.
This was the Allen who was the primary scoring option in Seattle, Milwaukee and Boston.
In an attempt to regain his shooting touch, Allen took a more aggressive approach in Monday’s victory against the Orlando Magic.
The result was Allen breaking free from a three-game shooting slump. He scored 17 points on 6 of 9 shooting.
“You’ve got to go get it,” Allen said.
“You’ve got to play with force. [Monday] was that game where I had to get in and force myself onto the game and make sure I was making good plays for the team.”
It was just the type of game Allen needed after his recent stretch. He had shot just 5 of 24 in the previous three games, including a 3-for-13 performance against the Detroit Pistons.
“He has been struggling, but you know Ray is going to keep shooting,” guard Dwyane Wade said. “He was big for us, especially when I went out.”
