Rondo, Wade could miss additional time
Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade didn’t play on Thursday, and both stars could miss additional time.
Rondo (ankle) left in the third quarter of Wednesday’s game with the Memphis Grizzlies. Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers told the Boston Herald he wasn’t sure about Rondo’s availability for either Friday against the Toronto Raptors or Sunday at the Detroit Pistons.
As tough as it is to replace Rondo in a fantasy lineup, you should at least have other point guards on your roster.
The Celtics don’t. Leandro Barbosa (17 points, 2 steals) started against the Brooklyn Nets, while Courtney Lee (13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals) played a season-high 33 minutes.
Wade, who had knee surgery this summer, is also dealing with a sprained foot and a jammed finger.
After sitting out on Nov. 9 against the Atlanta Hawks, Wade shot just 30.2 percent (13-of-43) over his next three games. A 25.0-point scorer during his career, he’s averaging just 16.9 points through eight games in 2012-13.
It will be interesting to see how coach Erik Spoelstra and the Miami Heat deal with Wade. Once they complete their current road trip on Saturday, the Heat will be off for nine of the next 11 days.
Perhaps Wade will get that time to heal. With the short-term schedule in mind, Wade’s replacement in the lineup, Mike Miller (12 points on four 3-pointers against the Denver Nuggets), has no value in most formats.
