Tim Duncan, Ray Allen among NBA stars aging with grace
MIAMI – Chris Bosh made sure to correctly answer the question.
He recently was asked what it was like being a teenager the first time he watched Tim Duncan play in the NBA.
Bosh, the Miami Heat center, remembered it differently. He had yet to reach his teenage years.
“Not to make him feel old, I might not have been a teenager,” Bosh said. “I might have been a preteen.”
If last season was the year of the lockout, then this season belongs to the aging veteran.
Duncan and the Heat’s Ray Allen are among those still playing at a high level despite being in the twilight of their careers.
Duncan, in his 16th season, leads the Spurs with averages of 18.7 points and 10.1 rebounds.
Allen, 37, is an early candidate for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year, shooting 53 percent from 3-point range and having already canned a pair late-game winning baskets.
In short, not much has changed since they entered the league in the mid-1990s when LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Bosh were still in middle school.
